PRISONER CUSTODY DRIVER The Role

Our client is looking for Prisoner Custody Drivers within the Woking / Staines area. Within this role, your main responsibility will be to ensure the safe and secure movement of people within custody to and from court. This is a full time / permanent position.

Responsibilities

As a Prisoner Custody Driver, you'll be responsible for the following:

  • Safe and secure movement of people within custody - including in and out of prison, on to the vehicle and at court
  • Ensuring the welfare of the people within custody - including completing risk assessments for venerable / 'at risk' people, managing meals and snacks, ensuring comfort stops are taken during transit
  • Ensuring the security and safety of people within custody when outside the vehicle - including to the dock, on legal visits and during comfort stops
  • Ensuring all 'prisoner checks' are completed and recorded
  • Managing incidents if they occur including potential use of physical force to control or restrain when required

You will also:

  • Liase with third party agencies including the police and prison services to ensure the correct documents are completed
  • Maintain company vehicles by carrying out both internal and external checks - reporting and documenting as you go
  • Ensure each vehicle has the sufficient equipment to carry out tasks
  • Maintain your own knowledge of business updates and operating procedures

Skills Required

As a Prisoner Custody Driver you will have:

  • Strong communication skills - written and oral
  • A driving license
  • Physical ability to use force when it's required

Ideal Candidate

  • A security or army background - or similar
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • The ability to build strong working relationships
  • A positive attitude
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
