I am currently recruiting for a Research Administrator at The National Institute for Health Research; this is a temporary 3 month assignment with the view to extend.

3 days a week (21 hours )paying £12.21 per hour

The Research Administrators are responsible for business processes which support the assessment of studies for inclusion on the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) Portfolio. This includes but is not exclusive to the processing of applications to ensure that studies submitted by researchers for inclusion on the NIHR CRN Portfolio are processed accurately and efficiently.

Specifically this will involve:

  • Receiving, recording and sending for review, all new applications
  • Processing all eligibility decisions, requesting additional information as required and communicating review outcomes to study teams
  • Supporting the Portfolio Eligibility Facilitators to process potentially eligible studies through the non-commercial extended review process
  • Ensuring all local trackers and national information systems are updated promptly and accurately
  • Assisting the Portfolio Eligibility Facilitators by monitoring and maintaining all study information held in local trackers and national information systems, making necessary data/information amendments as required
  • Producing regular data reports for the NIHR Clinical Research Network to highlight studies that are progressing through the Eligibility review process
  • Identifying any functional difficulties with the information systems supporting the Eligibility review process and the business process and communicating issues to the Portfolio Eligibility Facilitators
  • Working with both the Portfolio Eligibility Team and wider Research Operations function to ensure that processes are managed effectively and all elements are delivered to the highest standard and within the set timeframe
  • Developing good working relationships with key stakeholders including Chief Investigators/Study Coordinators and Local Clinical Research Networks
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with staff working within the other work stream areas within the Coordinating Centre, particularly within the Research Delivery Directorate, to ensure close and effective working arrangements are developed and maintained

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience of working with database systems.
  • High level of reliability, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
  • Evidence of an ability to show flexibility, adaptability and to cope with demanding situations, whilst working efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to manage confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • An interest in information and data management systems and a willingness to learn new skills as required.
  • Knowledge of clinical research in the NHS.
  • Familiarity with medical and scientific terms.
  • Experience of writing procedural documentation.
  • Experience of University and/or NHS Information Systems and administrative procedures
