Job Details

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation; our client is currently looking for a Technical Author based at their prestigious facility in Leeds. This is a full time temporary role for a period of 6 months working a 37.5 hour week. This role is paying up to £27,618 per annum pro rata, depending on experience.

The purpose of the Technical Author is to Drive Pillar activities, achieve measures and support the Masterplan through the application of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, the development/implementation of future technology, whilst adhering to company policies and statutory regulations.

The Technical Author will support Project Leaders and Engineers producing appropriate technical documentation relating to SMP/SOP safety, technical files/information and support Project Leaders executing commissioning programme.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support Project Leaders/Engineers in creating SMPs/SOPs on both large and small projects
  • Support engineers putting project files together
  • Create documentation for demonstrating compliance and gate compliance
  • Maintain database
  • Preparation of handover files
  • Support Project Leaders executing commissioning programme with SOPs, SMPs, machine ledgers and training.

Performance Metrics

  • On time in full delivery of Projects
  • Capex Reduction - 10% through Value Engineering and Procurement Savings
  • Compliance with project procedures
  • Customer/Stakeholder Feedback
  • To deliver projects balancing cost, technical and resources.
  • Establishing unique ways to solve technical problem relating to masterplan, safety, quality, cost challenges and product innovation.
  • Use of WCM continuous improvement methodology.

Key Experience and Qualifications

  • NVQ equivalent in a relevant Engineering/Manufacturing discipline
  • IOSH Managing safely and Process Safety
  • Minimum 2 years practical technical /project documentation experience.
  • Project execution experience
  • Good IT skills
  • WCM or TPM EEM Pillar implementation
  • Ideally an engineering qualification NVQ level 2/3
  • Operational planning and awareness
