Experienced Strategic Buyer required for a manufacturing company. The role will sit within the Supply Chain Team and will report directly to the Supply Chain Director. This is a pivotal role whose primary function is to determine the sourcing strategies and identify opportunities to gain leverage in the market place for your assigned commodities. You will identify, evaluate and develop suppliers to best meet the current and future needs of the business.
Requirements:
- Supplier negotiation and cost management techniques.
- Stock management and inventory turns management within the Supply Chain.
- Supplier performance management and adherence to contracts
- Buying electromechanical products including mouldings/electronics/metalwork
- Supplier dispute resolution
- Risk mitigation within the supply chain
- Direct buying in a manufacturing environment
- Working within an ERP driven environment
The Job:
The role is responsible for developing, leading and executing strategic sourcing strategies for the Product portfolio to deliver the best total cost of acquisition for the business. Identifying new potential sources and developing existing supplier relationships to meet the targets of Cost, Quality, Delivery and Innovation. Managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement throughout the supply chain working closely with Supplier Quality, R&D, Marketing and Manufacturing to have a robust, lean and efficient supply base.
Experience
- At least 2 years in a Strategic Buying role with responsibility for your own commodities
- An analytical thinker with excellent negotiation preparation and execution skills.
- Track record of delivering results within a challenging supply chain environment.
- Able to problem solve
- Able to communicate at all levels within the business and with at Exec level with suppliers.
- Able to gain support from others through influencing skills and reasoned logic
- Good reporting and communication skills.
- Data driven.
- A team player who can work cross functionally and with the supply base to achieve success.
- Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in either an Engineering or Business discipline
