Manpower is pleased to be working with our client to find a qualified Probation Officer, for a full time 3 month contract, to work in North Devon. Our client is growing their team and is looking for a compassionate and hardworking individual to join this small and friendly office. Your new office is based in central Barnstaple and easily accessible via public transport, this great role also comes with the added benefit of being able to work from home 1 day a week.

About the role

The role of Probation Officer will be diverse and at times challenging but with plenty of rewards when you see your customer achieve their goals. On a daily basis you will be managing a caseload of customers who you will enable to progress through their individual journey plan. You will use your excellent organisational skills to ensure that you maintain effective case planning and ongoing reviews of both customer development and risk assessments. This varied role will see you deliver a mix of direct, blended and remote support to your customers, you will also ensure that you keep up to date records, assessments and plans in line with company standards. Alongside working in the office you will also be able to go out, usually with a colleague, to meet customers so being able to drive is an advantage for this role but not essential.

About the candidate

To be successful in the role of Probation Officer you will need to have a CQSW, DIPSW, VQ5 DIP in Probation Practice or equivalent, you will also have an understanding of DPA, H&S, E&D and Safeguarding. You will have excellent personal skills including the ability to empathise, listen and communicate clearly with your customers. You may have previously worked in a similar role but people who are newly qualified will also be considered for the role so long as you have the ability to meet performance and service targets and have a clear understanding of the justice or employment sectors.

About the application process

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 1 week of application for a short telephone conversation with one of our consultants prior to being submitted to the client.
