Position: Business Development Manager

About you

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager to work closely with the board/senior management and be the catalyst for growth and new business. You will have a proven track record and a minimum of 5 years B2B experience operating at this level. The ideal candidate would be technically minded with experience selling engineered products across a diverse range of industries. Experience dealing with the construction, defence or manufacturing sectors would also be beneficial. You will be reporting to the Managing Director and working alongside the Directors and Senior Management Team, with no direct reports initially.

You will have the ability to unearth new opportunities in our key target sectors, whilst positively influencing our sales culture and business strategies across the group. The primary focus will be to achieve excellent levels of growth for our Wire Rope Solutions, Balustrade and Steel Engineered Components businesses within the UK, with the view of expanding into Europe as opportunities arise. This is an exciting opportunity and challenge for a professional, consultative sales leader to really make an impact and a difference.

Goals

  • Create and manage a new business pipeline to realise a sustainable £1m in new revenue within 12 months.
  • Identifying and recommending new routes and strategies for growth.
  • Establish an outward looking, business development sales culture within company, which focuses on new customer needs and opportunities.

Key Activities

  • Prospect and uncover new potential customers and markets we can target.
  • Actively network by attending the appropriate industry events, conferences and being our public figure head at key events and on social media platforms.
  • Positively influence and shape new marketing initiatives to support new business development, PR and brand awareness.
  • Work closely with our existing key account managers to uncover new opportunities and maximise growth potential.
  • Unearth potential new products and services that would add value to customers.
  • Use your experience and skills to help mentor and influence our sales culture and techniques.
  • Develop internal skills and initiatives to encourage a pro-active selling culture.
  • Preparing, agreeing and working to sales strategies, plans and budgets.
