WEAPONS TECHNICIAN (ARMOURER)

LYNEHAM, CHIPPENHAM

Company Overview

My client is the UK's leading engineering support services organisation employing 35,000 people across the world. They offer a hugely diverse number of career options in numerous job industries. My client are now looking to recruit a Weapons Technician/Armourer position at their military based in Lyneham, Chippenham. The successful candidate would need to be Class 1 Armourer trained and ideally hold a gunmaking qualification. My client are paying a salary of £30,000 per annum and this role will involve working from Monday-Friday with potential overtime on a Saturday.

Outline of the Role

  • The timely inspection, maintenance, modification and repair of training and non-training weapons, Gun platforms and vehicle mounted weapon system, turrets and Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) including associated ancillaries.
  • Directly responsible for the completion of all inspection (AFC 351,AFG 857) and associated paperwork including JAMES job cards to the required standard in accordance with (IAW) Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP's) and Army Command Standing Orders (ACSO) 9015.
  • Expected to conduct Joint Asset Management System (JAMES) training and utilise IAW all mandated operating procedures and processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair and modification of all operational and training weapons, Guns, Remote Weapon systems, training aids and ancillary items held at DSEME and ensuring compliance IAW Statutory and Legislative policy, AESP's and ACSO 9015 within timeframes set.
  • Directly responsible for accurately completing all necessary inspection reports (AFC 351, AFG 857), maintenance and associated paperwork in accordance with Statutory and Legislative policy, AESP and ACSO 9015 within set timeframes.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring all Inspections, examinations and Out Inspections are fully and accurately recorded on JAMES.
  • Responsible for conducting inspections, maintenance or repair activities when requested and/or required by the relevant line manager whilst maintaining and recording records on JAMES of all inspections, maintenance and repair activities.
  • Directly responsible for highlighting any Weapon, Gun, RWS or Ancilary areas of concern identified on inspection, maintenance or repair to the Line manager on discovery.
  • Responsible for the demand and correct disposal IAW MOD policies and procedures for all weapons spares and stores material.
  • Responsible for Receipt and Disposal and any other bespoke inspections requested by Line Managers.
  • Responsible for ensuring there are no attributable weapon systems or ancillary item Land Equipment Assurance Inspection Team (LEAIT) non-conformances or non-compliances on inspections, maintenance JAMES entries and associated paperwork IAW ACSO 9015. Responsible for highlighting any areas of concern to the ESM and Line manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring all mandatory JAMES equipment documentation is accurate, up to date and held and archived for internal and external audits e.g. LEAIT.
  • Responsible for Inspections/examinations and repair actions following Modification, General Instruction and Serious Defect Reports.
  • Responsible for liaising with relevant departments to facilitate all relevant inspection ,maintenance and repair activities
  • Expected to work efficiently to achieve targets and specific deadlines set by ESM and Line manager to achieve positive results and outcomes.
  • Must be able to operate as an individual and within a team displaying positive behaviours in order to achieve positive results and outcomes.
  • Expected to be agile, resourceful and flexible able to adapt to changing priorities as necessary over entire range of supported equipment within EMTC.
  • Expected to have or attain competent level of IT skills enabling proficient use of computer based systems.
  • Expected to conduct outdoor work and flexible working across all weapon/Gun platforms and equipment's to assist team ethos displaying positive behaviours and approach.
  • Expected to positively embrace and support ESM and Line manager requests that utilise your skill set/capability to achieve positive results.
  • Expected to be reliable and driven striving to deliver their best with the ability to support and encourage colleagues to achieve the same high standards.
  • Expected to positively embrace and support ESM, Line Managers requests that utilise your skillset/capability in both engineering and non-engineering capacities.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum REME Class 1 Armourer or civilian equivalent
  • Suitable Gunfitter Qualifications
  • Minimum driving qualification full Group 'B' Licence

Desirable

  • Tracked vehicle driving License
  • IT proficient (Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Abrasive wheels trained
  • Experience user of JAMES system
