£37,000 - £39,000 PER ANNUM

SHIFT PATTERNS - 4 ON 4 OFF - 38.5 HOURS PER WEEK

06:00 AM - 18:00 PM

Job Purpose

  • To maximise the workshop performance whilst maintaining high standards of customer service and tight cost control of the operation
  • To translate the client's business objectives into team objectives for the workshop staff and achieve/exceed these targets
  • To increase and maintain productivity levels in excess of 85%
  • To assume financial responsibility for the workshops contribution to the P & L
  • Ensure the workshop performs and maintains a high level of H&S performance and compliance

Key Accountabilities

  • To ensure that all vehicles are maintained and serviced in accordance with pre planned schedules
  • To ensure that vehicle auxillary equipment is maintained and tested / calibrated in line with the Customers Maintenance Policy
  • To liaise with Lead Hands and Technicians to ensure operational requirements are identified and achieved, including prioritising work in line agreed SLA and Triaging process.
  • To ensure vehicle job packs are completed accurately and filed appropriately within the correct location
  • To ensure that all work completed at my client's locations by both staff & fleet suppliers is carried out in line with the Company's Health & Safety Policy & contractor controls are adhered to.
  • Ensure all staff are compliant and use full PPE requirement at all times.
  • Deliver and record Shift and SHEQ briefs daily as required.
  • In conjunction with the workshop manager, drive productivity, efficiency and utilisation through the workforce using system reports to manage and identify shortfalls.
  • Utilise and review technical expertise in the workshop in order to identify efficiency and cost saving opportunities.
  • Deputise for the workshop manager in their absence
  • Management and consistent application of established people practices including performance management, absence management, people management, disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Provision of coaching and support to the team via Personal Development Reviews (PDR) for all staff under your control
  • Participate in Duty Manager call-out when required & ensure daily customer conference calls are attended..
  • Plan and manage resources to ensure high technical service delivery levels are consistently achieved ensuring on time clocking and meal breaks are achieved & managed.
  • To maximise workshop efficiency and throughput whilst reducing VOR downtime.
  • To provide guidance and support to the Lead Hands in the day to day running of the workshop
  • All job cards to be pre-timed and advised to the technician prior to starting each job
  • Upon completion of the job, check hours booked against time allowed. It is your responsibility to ensure all time booked is accounted for to maximise utilisation; any shortfalls must be identified / reported to the Workshop Manager for further action.
  • Prioritise and organise work patterns to clear oldest jobs first, keeping any backlog to a minimum.
  • Constantly monitor technician performance on jobs, ensure job card write ups are completed as you go so job change handover is kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure Work In Progress (WIP) is kept to a minimum in conjunction with fleet administration.
  • Ensure workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times and within company & H&S guidelines.
  • Build effective relationships with key suppliers and internal and external stakeholders
  • Report immediately all accidents and incidents into Airsides as they occur review & close down daily / weekly.
  • Ensure workshop tooling & equipment is controlled and compliant.

Person Specification

Technical/Specialist Knowledge:

  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of airport related equipment.
  • Held a supervisory role for minimum of 12 months in a LGV workshop environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate an historic background and knowledge of working in an LGV/ Airport GSE manufacturer or dealer in related business.
  • Proven track record in the management and motivation of teams to deliver competitive advantage to the business
  • Identifying and driving successful maintenance control changes
  • Ability to deliver technical support to a group of colleagues within a busy environment
  • Be able to obtain Airside pass.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Credibility and influencing skills amongst peers, management and supplier groups
  • Controlling maintenance activities within a given field of expertise
  • Ability to network and build effective relationships
  • Able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and resource activities

Qualifications

  • IRTEC or HNC related certification
  • Manufacturer accreditation
  • Industry related certification or qualifications
  • Cross direct with current J.D
