My Client is a Global player in the market for Masterbatch Thermoplastic technologies & manufacturing of a world class product. I am pleased to be supporting the search for a Plant Logistics & Supply Chain Manager, with a quick turnaround on application & subsequent interviews.

The Manufacturing Department consists of several component areas being Production Teams, Production Hub, Quality Control, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Warehouse and Logistics. Specifically the deliverables of the Department are as follows:

  • The Production team and hub area is responsible for completing required schedules to deliver required products.
  • The Quality Control Team is responsible for the testing of the finished product and ensuring it meets specification.
  • Continuous Improvement drives improvements in processes and procedures throughout the Operations department.
  • The Engineering function underpins all aspects of each department.
  • Warehouse and Logistics are responsible for incoming and outbound activities of the business.

What will your new role look like?

The Role

Position has overall responsibility for the outward bound goods from manufacturing plant, incorporating outbound warehouse management, inventory control and ensuring logistics provider's adherence to defined KPI's in roads, Sea and airfreight.

Management of the Shipping Department responsibilities for ensuring regulatory compliance of transport of dangerous goods, exports and airfreight security compliant.

What will you be accountable for?

  • Responding to Customer Service and Regional Account Manager queries including problem solving and resolving specialist and involved issues.
  • Ensuring that the 'Clean, Calm, Motivated and Safe' measures and actions are consistently carried out and are aligned with targets.
  • Reviewing requirements for, implementing and communicating any changes relating to ADR and IATA.
  • Managing the criteria around the Security Certificate, implementing and communicating to all involved whilst ensuring that this process is transparent and ready for immediate transfer to another manager's accountability.
  • Effectively negotiating carriage costs with shipping firms.
  • Accountable for ensuring end product is received, stored and shipped in accordance with all regulatory requirements e.g. DGSA, Export documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the Logistics Office responsible for the shipment and issuing of all dispatch and export documentation.
  • Daily management of transport Carrier's contracts and pricing, as well as the company carriage quotations and expenditure.
  • Management of operational costs in line with expectations.
  • Management of the Shipping Office, responsible for the shipment and issuing of all dispatch and export documentation.
  • Daily interactions with internal departments, Manufacturing, Planning and Commercial.
  • Completing KPI and on time delivery reports, liaising with logistics suppliers to ensure service meets/exceeds Company agreed requirements financially and also provide value added services.
  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of current international import/export regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for all company export requirements, regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for the company dangerous goods regulatory compliance and safe transport of dangerous goods by road, sea and air.
  • Responsible for the company 'Known Consignor Consignment Security Certificate'.
  • Liaising with the purchasing department for stock ordering and deliveries.
  • Lead cross-functional root cause and corrective action to quickly resolve NCR related logistic issues.
  • Ensure shipping compliance with LC's, BOL's identification, liaising with relevant internal departments.
  • Provide cost effective, customer focus solutions to ensure delivery compliance.
  • Understands operations, equipment, parts, and associated metrics and ensures supervisor understanding.
  • Collaborates with plant personnel to ensure consistent application of procedures, encourage teamwork and provide effective communication.

What do you need to succeed in your new role?

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  • Proven experience in Export distribution of finished goods, via Sea, Road and Air.
  • Experience within a batch/blending/chemical manufacturing industry with a proven track record in the logistics function

    • Experience with on time arrival tracking within carrier tracking systems
    • Working and up-to-date knowledge of legislation and areas such as Dangerous Goods: DGSA (awareness or qualification)and IATA, Letters of Credit, Chamber of Commerce, Inco-terms
        • Experience of Logistics Pricing, contract management and negotiation as well as cost and budget management.
        • ERP - SAP
        • Experience of managing direct reports
        • Self-starter with excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to analyse data, statistics and produce clear and effective reports
  • Experience with continuous improvement and problem solving techniques
  • SAP/ERP systems
