An exciting opportunity has come up for a Electro-Mechanical Test Development Engineer. This is to work for a specialist company who are led by advances in their self-developed technology, based in Andover, Hampshire.

The role will support the Product Test department and will be responsible for developing the testing function to improve efficiency, reduce rework and improve the product.

The role will also support New Product Introduction process as well as designing and implementing new test rigs and procedures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all factory qualification documentation, understanding trends, analysing data and reporting at high level with opportunities for improvement.

On a day to day you will work with the development function to produce appropriate software, capable of meeting the test requirements of the product/module and ensuring ease of use and data retrieval objectives are met. Assist in the development of the Factory Qualification Test protocols for products and modules ensuring URS requirements are met. Write up test procedures for use by test/production personnel in the form of work instructions.

With the current products the successful Test Engineer will continually review, simplify and identify opportunities to improve testing of in-house test yields. Supporting QC/QA functions to regularly review field failure data and identify test-related problems.

You will act as the key point of contact for all test related enquiries within the factory and supply chain. Identify opportunities for integrated testing of modules to complement/reduce requirement for final product testing.

Develop preventative and reactive maintenance procedures for all test equipment - be a point of contact/support for scheduled calibration activities.

Above all else the success candidate must be willing to join a driven and motivated team focused on reducing costs, improving quality, and working to always satisfy the customer.

To do well in this role you must have at least 3 years proven track record within an electro-mechanical test development role.

  • SW programming/debug experience. (C coding would be desirable)
  • PLC programming
  • Electronic design, build and debug skills to diagnose complex electro-mechanical equipment from system down to component level.
  • Extensive experience using various test and diagnostic equipment.
  • A strong understanding of lean principles and the analysis of production processes (kaizen).
  • Able to compile shop floor process instructions and safe working procedures.
