Manpower are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join their Manufacturing Engineering team. This role is based in Luton and has an immediate start.

This is a full time, permanent role working Monday - Friday, 10pm to 6am. Salary is up to £30k plus 50% shift allowance.

About the role:

The key responsibility will be to lead the equipment support activities and provide excellent first line support on all manufacturing equipment and processes (SMT, Conventional wave solder, conformal coating and final assembly)

The position will be tasked with hands on fault find, repair and maintenance of the for SMT, Conventional wave solder, conformal coating and final assembly equipment and processes. Recognizing and developing the skills of the individuals within the manufacturing team. Analysing defect data and downtime to evolve current process control and maintenance schedules and thus developing, improving and sustaining Luton's overall Process support.

Duties:

  • Fault find, repair and maintain all manufacturing equipment and processes. This includes SMT, wave solder, conformal coating and final assembly
  • Generate and maintain machine programs for SMT, wave solder and conformal coating.
  • Identify tooling improvements, and services required for production.
  • Monitor & improve maintenance programs within production.
  • Undertake technical investigations and resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Work alongside Manufacturing Engineers to implement an improved process for prototype phase manufacturing builds.
  • Maintain machine spare parts and consumables to ensure machine uptime which may include liaising with external vendors.
  • Generate and maintain written work instructions and standard of work for operational use
  • Initiate and implement Process Control measures throughout production.
  • Liaise with the Manufacturing Engineers to ascertain the manufacturability of new and existing products.
  • Work alongside the Manufacturing Engineers to achieve a cost effective and reliable product.
  • Support & monitor prototype phase batches through production.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have in depth electrical / mechanical and software knowledge of manufacturing equipment
  • Be able to diagnose and repair automated manufacturing equipment
  • Have a strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Have a high level of fault finding capability on electro/mechanical disciplines
  • Have experience maintaining production machinery using TPM principles
  • Be computer literate
