Trade Counter Sales Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our busy Trade Counter and Warehouse team, located at our Headquarters on Slough Trading Estate.

Benjamin Moore is a leading North American decorative paint brand and is widely regarded as a worldwide leader in colour and design. Benjamin Moore is famous for the exceptional beauty of its colours and for producing the finest quality paint products.

Our business, Shaw Paints, is a friendly and respected family business that imports Benjamin Moore paints from North America and distributes across the whole of the UK.

We are looking for a professional, personable person to will help us to deliver the highest levels of customer service and operational effectiveness to our stockist, professional painter, interior designer and homeowner customers.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of operational effectiveness and excellent customer service in a customer facing trade counter / warehouse environment. They will have strong communication skills and be comfortable conversing with stockist, homeowner, professional decorator and interior designer customers.

This full-time role (37.5 hrs per week) offers a competitive salary, company pension and 25 days holiday annually. The role report into the Trade Counter and Warehouse Manager.

Purpose of Role

As a Trade Counter Sales Assistant, you will support the Trade Counter/Warehouse team to serve professional painters, designers, homeowner customers both in store, over the phone and through internet/email.

Your duties will be to receive, process and dispatch customer's orders and to respond to customer's product and colour enquiries.

Role Objectives

  • * Order processing - to receive, process, prepare and dispatch face-to-face, telephone and internet orders
  • * Customer enquiries - to support customers on the telephone, email and face-to-face with product and colour guidance

Skills/ Experience required

  • Excellent communication skills - you will be required to communicate with professional painter, homeowner and designer customers face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • Outstanding customer service - you will be required to support customers in a helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient manner to deliver outstanding customer service. You will also be required to resolve customers' issues/complaints in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Sales skills - you will be required to actively promote our products and up-sell to drive sales revenue
  • IT literate - you will be required to process customer's orders efficiently through various computer-based systems
  • Personal presentation - you will be required to be well presented and to behave in a professional and courteous manner to customers
  • Experience and/or knowledge of paint industry an advantage
