Senior Legal Counsel
Job Details
AkzoNobel is looking for a UK-qualified Senior Legal Counsel to cover a period of maternity leave for an expected duration of 14 months (including initial handover period).
The role is broadly commercial in scope, and at the heart of the day job will be the drafting and negotiation of material commercial contracts (including sale, purchase, agency, and distribution agreements) in support of our Decorative Paints and Performance Coatings businesses. A sound working knowledge of competition law principles is essential. Additional experience of product safety, marketing and advertising, corporate / CoSec, logistics, construction, M&A, and / or dispute resolution would be preferred, but is not essential.
The individual will participate in business-wide project teams, and the confidence to be able to engage and advise credibly at senior levels of the organisation, and provide advisory and risk management counsel across multiple business units, will be key. The ability to prioritise matters effectively and manage competing client and stakeholder expectations is also of high importance.
The ideal candidate will likely have considerable in-house experience in a manufacturing / FMCG (or similar) environment. The broad PQE equivalent experience guide is 6-8 years.
This role will be based in a small friendly team in our Slough Head Office and reports in to the Director Legal UK. It will involve some overseeing of trainees and paralegal team members. Flexible working will be considered. The preferred start date for the role is 3 December 2018, and it is currently anticipated to run until 31 March 2020.
Pay guide is £90,000 p.a. with potential for bonus.
