UC Network Communication System Technician

UC Network Communication System Technician Needed ASAP in the Hebrides area.

Salary: £24,000 per annum

Location: Hebrides

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

In this role you will provide engineering and systems support to ensure the Range Trials Control and site communications infrastructure, as well as associated systems, remain available for support to the operation of the site.
We are looking for an active and capable individual to join the Hebrides Engineering team. The successful candidate will have experience installing and terminating different types of cable systems to support voice and data services across the site.

Primary systems include:
* CCTV and site monitoring systems
* Copper internal and external cable systems including Local Area Network (LAN) cat 5/6 and BT cable systems
* Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTN)
* Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved air traffic communications systems operating on E1 voice and IP networks
* Cross site data links utilising wired and wireless networks.
* Site copper and fibre infrastructure.
* RF feeder cable systems
As part of the NCS team that ensures the configuration and operational readiness of systems that allow safe conduct of test and evaluation activities, key duties will include:
* The conduct of planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with the company engineering policy.
* Real time monitoring and usage of Range systems in support of operational activities.
* Liaison with customer and site engineers to elicit requirements and subsequent installation / configuration of communications and data distribution systems to meet the requirements.
* Installation of cable management systems.
* Ensuring that data and communications infrastructure comply with the standards as set out in the company engineering policy.
* Installation of copper and fibre networked communications/data systems.
* Installation of IT based systems to strict standards in accordance with the company engineering policy.
These duties may extend to other sites within the UK business during periods of peak activity.


Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities Required:
* Working knowledge and understanding of telecommunications networks - PSTN, AC15 and central battery interfaces.
* Experience with CCTV systems
* Experience with wireless link systems
* Ability to install and terminate copper and fibre cable infrastructure.
* Practical hand skills / able to install systems infrastructure and equipment.
* Ability to install and configure CCTV cameras and associated infrastructure.
* Well organised, able to work individually or as a team player with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to maintain accurate and consistent records.
* Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems
