A rapidly growing manufacturing company near Oxford is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to manage a team of 45+ staff and be responsible for the leadership and management of resources in achievement of production targets. Working closely with the Production Planning Manager and Purchasing Manager you will manage and motivate a variable work force in attainment of weekly targets seeking to increase both efficiency and quality through a process driven approach.
Main Duties:
Management of the production process and available resource in attainment of off-line targets.
Introduce process controls to monitor and gauge productivity across departments with the objective of incremental improvement.
Build on quality procedures, periodically review with a view of constant improvement.
Motivate staff with a "can do" team approach. Organise staff training where appropriate and compile a company skills matrix
Run weekly production planning meetings with department Managers.
Hold regular "key information" meetings with line supervisors. Assist in developing their lines of responsibility and effectiveness within departments.
Monitor staff sickness and attendance levels.
Responsible for engagement, disciplinary meetings and annual appraisals with production staff.
Run the factory apprenticeship scheme and shop floor training
Organise opening and closing of factory along with authorization and monitoring of production staff overtime when necessary.
Attending technical meetings as required.
Ensure all production staff are adhering to the company's Health and Safety policy by maintaining the COSHH register.
Catalogue and maintain all materials safety data sheets for the production environment.
Organise safe working practices/PPE training, including the issuing of PPE and related workshop information signage.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
A sound knowledge of production processes.
Planning and Process Control & Production Improvements
Excellent communication skills and experience in a manufacturing organisation.
A good people person with a record of motivating staff in a production environment
Ability to work to and uphold safe working practices
Experience using SAP
Desirable but not essential to have Qualification in Lean Manufacturing 5S or 7S
Hours are Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm, salary £45 - £50k, 23 days holiday, Bupa and Pension and free parking.
