Product Development Reservoir Engineer required to join a reputable business based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The product development reservoir engineer is a key technical contributor working in the area of reservoir and production engineering and Liaises with Software Developers, Automation Engineers, Product Champions, Product Analysts, InTouch Analysts and Customers.



Responsibilities and Duties

  • Designs, organises and executes test strategy, test plans and test suites with focus on intended application workflows and in close cooperation with the development team.
  • Makes independent studies, analysis, interpretations and conclusions to evaluate data quality and application during testing of new products and services: compares tool performance versus specification and evaluates the relevance of the measurement in respect to customer needs.
  • Reviews test plans with focus on the intended application workflows, contribute technical expertise to ensure test plan completeness.
  • Finds, explores, analyses and prioritises technical problems based on the importance to the end user and effect on overall product quality.
  • Develops automated tests to support efficient regression testing.
  • Tracks testing progress and reports test results in a timely manner using provided systems for reporting and defect tracking.
  • Ensures engineering solutions meet the acceptance criteria as based upon the current functionality to be released.
  • Proactively identify and escalate project risks.
  • Assist in planning and testing of incremental releases or new versions of the product.
  • Provides expert advice in the area of Reservoir Engineering to development teams, during all phased of the project development from concept to sustaining.
  • Delivers training and technical support to engineers, the R&D, field organisation and customers in applying or understanding the software functionality for their interpretation needs.
  • Investigates and proposes new development areas and technical solutions in the domain of Reservoir / Production Engineering which demonstrate understanding of the Company strategy.
  • Assists the Product Champions during product or service introduction, in particular for marketing documentation, publications in professional societies, training schools, presentation of tools and answer products to customers, on-line training packages.
  • Participates in the relevant technical reviews and audits of the projects.
  • Offers technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
  • Contributes to the innovation activities and university relationships of the technology or research center.
  • May participate in joint case studies between R&D organisation and customers.
  • May participate in recruiting.
  • Complies with applicable company policies, including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures.
  • Successfully complete required safety training (including but not limited to drugs and alcohol, electrical, emergency response, fire, first aid, health and hygiene, PPE, SIPP, risk reporting, IT security, driving).

This role would suit someone who has 2-4 years of experience after University and the salary will reflect this. The salary is £40,000-£60,000 dependent on experience and there will be room to grow within this. A relocation package is offered to people who live 50+ miles away.
