Faculty of Arts, Design and Media

Location: Parkside Building

Per Hour Excluding Holiday Pay depending on experience and responsibility.

We are looking for undergraduate or postgraduate students from ADM to join our 3D Workshop Student Monitor team working in Parkside Workshops.

The Student Monitor team provides students with guidance for using a wide range of specialist processes involving wood, metal, ceramics, glass, plastics, spray finishing, laser cutting and 3D printing. The role will involve supporting students using manual operated equipment to produce a range of projects associated with multiple Art, Design and Media based disciplines, which primarily includes Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Product and Furniture Design, Fine art and Jewellery which will contribute to student achievement and success.

You will be required to provide basic technical support to staff and fellow students using the facilities, ensure the space is used in a safe way and help the technical team with general housekeeping duties. This is a great opportunity to further develop your own technical understanding for 3D work, whilst developing your interpersonal skills in a professional working environment.

Hours of Work:

Monday - Thursday 17.00 - 22:00

Friday 16.00 - 19.00

Saturday 10.00 - 16.00

Main duties:

  • To provide basic technical support for students using practical Ceramics, Plaster, Glass, CAD LAB, Spray room and 3D workshop facilities. Training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • The preparation, recording and distribution of materials and reporting of any maintenance issues.
  • Ensure that students finish in good time prior to the facilities/building closing.
  • Ensure that students maintain a clean working area prior to leaving the workshop.
  • To assist the workshop technicians in keeping the workshop clean and tidy and stock taking duties.
  • To ensure that students use the workshops in a manner that is in adherence to all relevant health and safety procedures and guidelines
  • Informing security immediately in the event of an accident or injury
