Workshop Assistant

Our client who are experts in the manufacture and supply of products and services to the subsea telecoms and power cable industries are looking to hire a Workshop Assistant / Cable Operator to be based at their facility in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Workshop Assistant / Cable Operator role is a wide and varied role which includes cleaning and preparing sites, loading and delivering materials, using a variety of plant, tools and machinery, driving company vehicles and fork lift trucks, setting up and taking down temporary structures, and painting.

The role also requires the Workshop Assistant / Cable Operator to work offshore on hire jobs operating our clients equipment..

To be considered for this role you will have the following skills and attributes

Keen listening skills

The ability to work to high levels of instruction

The ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines

Basic IT skills including Outlook, Word and company systems

Have a current Driving licence

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Be able to pass offshore medical and survival and in house cable operators courses

The role will involve offshore working and national and international travel.
