Our client, one of the UK's leading energy providers, is looking for a Regional Case Advisor to join their team in Barnwood, Gloucester. The Regional HR Case Advisor reports to the Regional HR Case Lead within Employee Services. The scope of the role spans HR Delivery for our client as a whole, i.e. 15,000 employees.
The Regional HR Case Advisor, reporting to the Regional HR Case Lead, will be integral part of the front end HR Delivery structure in Employee Services. They will provide a proactive, professional HR advice and guidance service which meets or exceeds defined service levels. This will involve providing legally compliant, operational and business focused HR advice to managers on a range of HR cases. They will lead managers through, predominantly but not exclusively, the four main case processes: Grievance, Disciplinary, Performance, and Sickness. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a variety of cases across each of these areas and will support and coach Advisors in the team, with accountability for all advice, relationships and casework managed in their allocated business units. They will attend and support case hearings at agreed regional locations. The RCA will be accountable for ensuring that HR case documentation and records are completed and kept up to date; they will support managers in applying the relevant company policies and procedures. The RCA will be flexible to travel within their assigned region, therefore it is important to note that a degree of flexibility and agility will be required for any successful candidate in the role and in the team.
Principal Accountabilities for a Regional HR Case Advisor will include:
Once a case is transferred to you, you will be responsible for managing that case from beginning to resolution, including the logistics that go with that particular process. E.g. you will organise meetings, prepare case documentation, take meeting notes, log all documentation in the appropriate files, write outcome letters and ensure the relevant IT systems are updated. You will support mainstream case management for the Big Four through all stages of the relevant company procedure. You will ensure that cases adhere to the appropriate procedure and are managed in line with the level of risk, relevant employment legislation and custom and practice, best practice. Keeping appropriate records of hearings (accurate file notes / timelines, etc).You will attend formal case hearings: you will be accountable to prepare, support, direct and coach managers through the hearing process in line with Company policy, guidelines, best practice, as well as employment law requirements. Case hearings may take place within any reasonable location within an agreed region.As part of the HR Delivery Team in Employee Services, you will provide a proactive and/or "on demand" advisory and consultancy service to people managers when required and as part of the case you are managing at that time. You'll build excellent stakeholder relationships with HRBPs as well as managers. As part of your proactive advisory role, you will spot trends and make recommendations to HRBPs. You will proactively drive interventions with people managers to address identified people issues across the business.Part of this role may see you liaise with external agencies/functions such as legal and local union representatives regarding the people issues related to procedures and policies and to ensure that people managers work within the defined policy and procedures. To achieve this, you will work with ER teams and employee services teams.You will feed back on processes, procedures, continuous improvement, 'lessons learned' to the HR Delivery Team in order to improve our delivery of stakeholder support. You will share knowledge with the team on individual case management to ensure best practice is developed and used. Qualifications, Experience
Achieved or working towards Graduate member of the CIPD or equivalent professional experience.Demonstrable experience of excellence in client service delivery in a large organisation that has a wide range of business functions and business drivers.Broad knowledge of current employment legislation and best practice. Demonstrable experience of employee relations, including managing disciplinary and grievance issues from start to conclusion.Demonstrable experience of managing and attending case hearings, providing advice and support on the hearing process and policy issue, while taking appropriately detailed meeting notes. Demonstrable experience of successfully coaching managers to achieve successful resolution of the full range of employment issues including discipline, grievance, poor performance, attendance etc. Developed listening and questioning skills with a strong ability to translate complex legislative and policy situations into clear and comprehensible responses and actions. Able to proactively influence and persuade managers to take appropriate actions that minimise risk Able to adapt style to different employment settingsHigh standard of written documentation and previous experience of producing professional, succinct and robust letters, meeting notes, case documentation and reports to be used in formal meetings; excellent attention to detail is required. Good understanding of Data Protection and confidentiality challengesWell organised with ability to multi-task and proactively manage a variety of different cases to conclusion at any given time.
