My Client is a leader in chemical manufacturing, supplying a range of high class product into large branded Clients across the globe, & I am excited to be making introductions into the Liverpool Manufacturing Team. I am looking to speak with Junior Lab Technicians, with immediate availability, ready to take on a new challenge.

What does your new role look like?

You will provide technical assistance within the Industrial Coatings Department to support customer requirements and production by carrying out product development. You will be supported & guided by the lab manager & development chemists, and whilst this is an entry level role into the laboratory, there is great opportunity within the business to progress as you develop your knowledge of their global product.

What is a typical day within the lab like?

  • To undertake practical laboratory work including; small scale paint manufacture, physical testing of paints, raw material evaluations, chemical resistance testing and performance testing.
  • Colour matching & instrumental colour measurement including interpretation of results
  • Preparation of test samples/panels via various methods of application
  • May undertake support work, including investigation of production problems, supervision of batches in production and finding re-work outlets for redundant paint
  • Provide oral and written feedback including reports, enquiries, samples & panels.
  • Interface with other members of product development, technical service and sales
  • To be competent and fully compliant in the safe operation of general lab equipment
  • Maintain a safe and orderly laboratory work environment at all times and adhere to 5S practices
  • Adhere to the code of conduct and promote Becker values and culture

Idea qualities to succeed in this role:

  • Any knowledge of paint (or ink) preparation and formulating
  • Some knowledge of spray application
  • Some knowledge of testing methods such as grind and viscosity

Essential qualities required:

  • Good spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Working knowledge of standard PC applications
  • Work effectively in a team with capacity of working under pressure to strict deadlines whilst adhering to quality requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Will pass a colour blindness test
  • GCSE C or above (or equivalent) in, English, Mathematics and a science based subject, preferably chemistry
  • Working experience of mixing and testing in a laboratory
