Student Product Development Scientists

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our global FMCG client, the powerhouse behind brands such as Sure, Dove, Signal & Lynx have an opening for three Student Product Development Scientists to be based at their prestigious Research & Development in Port Sunlight, Wirral. This is an internship for 6 months working Monday to Friday paying £20,010 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience and will be working with either oral care or deodorants.

This role will commence in February 2019 and run for 6 months. Applicants MUST be a student completing their degree and therefore MUST be able to be released from University in order to undertake this internship. We would welcome applications from overseas students who already have right to work in the UK full time. The role will be based at Port Sunlight, just 15 minutes from Liverpool city centre!

Research and Development is vital to the growth of Unilever brands (such as Dove, Rexona, Timotei and Signal) and the successful applicant will have access to a range of world class laboratory facilities including the Materials Innovation Factory at the University of Liverpool.

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

The exciting roles are with the Deodorants and Oral Formulation teams within the Product Engineering Group in our Beauty and Personal Care Division at Unilever R&D Port Sunlight. This group plays a vital role in the development of products, providing underpinning formulation and processing expertise to Unilever's rapidly growing Beauty and Personal Care business. The roles involve working across brands (Rexona, Dove, Axe, Signal, Zendium) to develop new formulations and technical insights.

JOB SUMMARY

• Support the Science & Technology Programme, specifically in the development and formulation of new products.
• Prepare and characterise products, for example measuring rheological properties, physical/sensory evaluations, storage stability tests, etc.
• Clearly communicate results and recommendations, via presentations and formal written reports.
• Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Develop technical proficiency in Deo or Oral formulations, technologies and measurements.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Master student in physical sciences (preferably chemistry) or equivalent previous experience.
• A rigorous approach and attention to detail.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines using dynamic problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Currently studying ideally Masters seeking an internship as part of course completion.
