Eligibility Assessor (Day Shift)

The Pre Assessment department at The Student Loans Company manage a wide range of activities relating to the processing of a customer's application, these include Mail handling, Document batching and scanning, Data Entry, Assessing and Evidence management.

Job Purpose:

To accurately assess applications for student finance in order to determine eligibility and entitlement for financial support. To also deal with any other eligibility related tasks such as changes in customers' circumstances and revising eligibility and entitlement.

Key responsibilities:

• You will work as part of a team to determine students' eligibility and entitlement to financial support in accordance with the relevant regulations, procedures and standards.

• Request relevant information and evidence from students, sponsors and third parties in support of applications for financial entitlement.

• Carry out outbound telephone calls to clarify information and evidence, investigate issues, provide services and enhance customer service.

• Keep up to date and be able to advise on and implement all aspects of all appropriate regulations and guidance. Including the Education (Student Support) Regulations for England and Wales, plus the Further Education Loans regulations along with local policies and procedures for all relevant domiciles.

• Provide help and assistance to other team members and colleagues enabling the team to improve its capability and maximise performance.

• Willing to undertake required duties to meet goals, objectives and deadlines in a changing environment.

Required Experience:

• GCSE English and Maths (C or above) or equivalent.

• Computer Literate (Word/Excel/Powerpoint, e-mail and databases).

• Excellent skills in multiple communication channels, including telephone call handling, email, and letter writing.

• Works well as part of a team.

• Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to changing business needs
