Mechanical Technician

Mechanical Technician - Plymouth - 2 / 3 month contract - £Competitive

Manpower is working with our client in Plymouth to find two Mechanical Technicians to work on a 2 to 3 month contract; this role is offered with an immediate start. The role will involve undertaking safe and efficient maintenance of mechanical machinery and systems for both ferries and onshore infrastructures.

About the role

To be successful in the role of Mechanical Technician you will complete planned maintenance and emergency repairs on all mechanical equipment and systems, the chain system, the hull and all associated structures and fittings in the ferries. You will also be involved in the maintenance of the of the on shore infrastructure. Additional to this you will be able to update all staff on any changes to on board systems or malpractices that occur.

About the candidate

To be the successful Mechanical Technician you will have relevant marine based engineering experience working within a repair and maintenance environment. You will also have a through working knowledge of complex engineering workshop machinery and safety precautions as well as being able to understand and interpret engineering drawings to be able to manufacture accurate components. You will need a good knowledge of health and safety regulations as well as having a great ability to priorities your workload while still being able to work as part of a team. Please note that due to the nature of this work you must be physically fit as you will be climbing steep and narrow stairs as well as working in some confined spaces.
