As a Finance Assistant your main duties will include:

 Dealing with staff and students on a day-to-day basis in person, or by mail,

email or phone, providing advice and assistance;

 Checking expense forms, both paper based and via the e-expenses system,

to ensure compliance with University and Faculty regulations;

 Completion and checking of financial data on the electronic requisitioning

system (SIPR) and authorising purchases against internal budgets;

 Processing ad-hoc payments, student maintenance, petty cash claims,

banking transactions and journals;

 Production of routine monthly reports to account holders and ad-hoc reports

on request;

 Maintaining accurate and auditable records and files.

These roles are full time, with core hours 9am-5pm Monday-Friday in order to maintain

an agreed service level in the Finance Office.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a

definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of

the post.

What will you bring to the role?

As a Finance Assistant you will have:

 Strong numeracy and literacy skills, for example as evidenced by GCE O

Levels or GCSEs in Mathematics and English Language at grade C or above,

or equivalent;

 Proven ability to meet tight deadlines by prioritising own workload;

 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

 Excellent IT skills, proficient in MS Office Applications with a good standard of

Excel;

 Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.

You may also have:

 Experience of finance systems and procedures;

 Experience of budgetary control systems;

 Good working knowledge of SAP.
