We wish to appoint a Vehicle Mechanic, reporting to the Workshop Supervisor to provide effective Equipment Support (ES) in order to sustain a level of equipment availability sufficient to meet Contract requirements. The main tasks of the role are:
- Carry out routine maintenance, mechanical and electrical repairs, and modification to equipment in support of the workshop repair process.
- Carry out equipment and component serviceability inspections.
- Identify mechanical and electrical faults with vehicle components, assemblies and systems.
- Ensure all equipment maintenance and repairs are completed in accordance with equipment specific Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP).
- Carry out road tests of vehicles and functional testing of equipment
- Update repair progress and job completion on the Joint Asset Management and Engineering Solutions (JAMES) MIS
- Identify replacement parts and assemblies using Military Information Systems
- Demand replacement parts and assemblies
- Ensure repairable components and assemblies are clean and drained of all fluids before return
- Support the continuous improvement of the department and contribute towards the RSME contracts continuous improvement targets
- Carry out pre and after use inspections of any Lifting Equipment (LE)
- Carry out off site repairs to non-taskworthy or broken down equipment
- Ensure the highest standards of Engineering Hygiene (EH) and housekeeping are used and maintained within your work area, the workshop and surrounding areas
- May be required to cover some out of hours duties
- Carry out any other tasks deemed within your area of competence
- Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times. direction
Technical Experience and Qualifications
- C&G Level 3 Motor Vehicle Studies or equivalent - Essential
- Apprenticeship in Automotive Engineering or equivalent - Essential
- Hold a UK driving license (Category C; C+E). - Desirable
Hold a UK Category B driving license - Essential
- Qualified IOSH Working Safely - Desirable
- Computer literate in Microsoft packages - Desirable
- Experience working with military equipment - Desirable
