Maintenance Assistant - Exeter - Great team environment

Manpower is excited to be working with the National Health Service to find a maintenance assistant who will mainly be based at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital site. This is one of the largest sites in Devon which relies on a team of trade professionals to keep the hospital running on a daily basis.

About the role

Within your new role of maintenance assistant you will be working closely with your colleagues to ensure the hospital runs smoothly. This will require you to carry out unsupervised, routine maintenance and minor repair work including installations. All unsupervised work will require basic skills and apply to your specific grade. However, you will be required to assist higher grades of new works and repairs. On top of this your other duties may include carrying out collection and disposal of refuse such as domestic and cardboard. Within this role regular performance appraisals will be held. You will be asked to complete any training required for the role such as mandatory fire and manual handling training. This role may require you to work outside normal working hours. As this role will be working around vulnerable adults and children a DBS check will need to be carried out.

About the candidate

To be successful in this role you must be able to work as part of a team and have good interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone with an NVQ2 or equivalent in building services skills. You must have good knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and previous experience in maintenance, repair work or have worked in a similar environment. As a result you must be semi-skilled in maintenance repair and general labouring work. Travelling between different hospital sites will be required so you must have a full driving licence. Flexibility in working hours will also be an advantage.

About the application process.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 1 week of application for a short telephone conversation with one of our consultants prior to being submitted to the client.
