Finance Business Partner required for our client AkzoNobel, a leading global Paint and Coatings Company and a major producer of specialty chemicals, with leading market positions and brands in countries around the world. They operate in a number of important market segments ranging from buildings and infrastructure to transport, industrial and consumer goods.

As a Finance Business Partner you will build high quality relationships with key members of the Exec Team and be a member of the Finance Management Team, providing leadership to the Finance Team. You will provide insight around current and future financial performance to business partners and identify opportunities for further improvement.

You will also work with the Head of Stores, Commercial and Business Development to:

  • Identify and prioritise key tactical and strategic projects to support delivery of the targets for Market share, GIV, EBIT, and OWC (Inventory and Payables)
  • Maximise return on investment by ensuring available resources (people and cash) are deployed to generate the best returns
  • Support and influence all key sales and marketing decisions, including contract renewals (e.g. National Contractors, Suppliers & Nectar)
  • Develop a broader appreciation of the market, category, customers and competitors, helping the business to identify profitable ways to develop competitive advantage, including understanding relationships between Independents and DDC at a strategic level

The chosen candidate will have the following experience;

  • Qualified accountant
  • Strong financial background with experience in / close links to accounting and FP&A teams
  • Credible finance professional seen as functional expert by non-finance
  • Has a good understanding of the business (UK, trade, DDC) and can apply to new environment

The chosen candidate will have the following skills:

  • Able to build strong relationships outside of finance and effectively manage time and expectations
  • Able to prioritise and deliver value adding insight and recommendations to the business
  • Understanding of where/how to extract relevant data from systems (access, Cognos, SAP)
  • Excellent analytical and data skills, able to manipulate data to produce insight and build scenario models
