An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our client is a Leading Global FMCG Company with Brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum and are currently looking for a Artwork Production Specialist based at their prestigious facility in Blackfriars. This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 12 months (Maternity Cover), working a 36.25-hour week and to start ASAP. This role is paying up to £36,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is coordinating packaging artwork projects from design lock through to commercially reproducible mechanical artwork and separations in a timely manner.

The position must interface with internal teams (such as Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, e-Commerce) who provide master design files and pack content, and also external partners (print management agencies, design agencies, printers, etc) who deliver the work in the form of mechanical artwork, pack image albums and printed packaging.

As technical experts, they will also provide technical advice and input in the design, artwork and print phase of the project to ensure that brand quality and consistency is maintained through the artwork process. They will be responsible for initiating and managing projects within the Artwork Management System, and also working within a multifunctional project team to deliver projects on time.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with marketing and design agencies at the design phase, providing expert guidance and technical inputs to ensure that the design is technically printable before the artwork is routed for internal approval.

Set-up and run pre-production meetings bringing together design agencies, print management agencies, printers and internal stakeholders to ensure that quality and consistency is maintained from artwork to print phase of the process, ensuring cost efficiency.

Manage and be accountable for the timely delivery of Mechanical artwork and separation files to printers/suppliers in order to deliver packaging on a timely basis (OTIF).

Create all projects in the Artwork Management System and manage delivery through this system. Consult with Marketing and cross functional project team on timeline development, manage production process issues and act as first point of contact for external production vendors.

Provide transparency back to Marketing and project leaders regarding progress and timeline compliance of their projects to enable them to follow up with other functional team members for task completion.

Set-up and run pre-production meetings, approve colour reliable proofs on behalf of Marketing, approve colour standards.

Provide expert guidance and input to Marketing regarding technical requirements for print production and potential challenges; make recommendations.

Check work confirmation in regard to accuracy of content for work performed.

Ensure approved Rate card for costing, and that the PMA (Print Management Agency) receives an order number for work that is being completed following the procure to pay process.

Key Challenges

  • Coordinating various projects simultaneously; working with multiple cross-functional team members as well as multiple external vendors.
  • Managing the external vendor compliance within agreed lead time and quality of delivery.
  • Ensuring that all PMAs are in compliance with UL standards and guidelines for mechanical artwork creation. (e.g naming convention, software, etc.)
  • Manage and report on PMA performance based on UL evaluation criteria
  • Functioning as a technical expert / consultant and business partner to Marketing teams from design to artwork to print phase of the process.
  • Influencing the improvement to artwork management efficiency through project management, process compliance, visibility of artwork and ways of working within the team.
  • Managing artwork in a continuously changing environment, where timelines are always tight and artwork is always on the critical path for delivery. Delivering this on time and efficiently.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience in the area of packaging design, print production & management.
  • Agency Account Management background highly desirable
  • Ideally experience in graphic design, package development
  • Strong Project/Process Management experience bringing projects in on time
  • Highly computer-literate
  • Enjoy working within complex projects
  • Competently manage multiple artwork projects at the same time
  • Minimal Travel is required to Rotterdam
