My client is a leading supplier of NMR systems and services, superconducting magnets and helium-free cryogenic systems. They are now looking for an NMR Field Service and Support Engineer to provide hands-on technical expertise and technical support for Bruker systems. They are now looking for a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Field Service and Support Engineer to join their team asap.

Key Responsibilities

The function of the NMR Field Service and Support Engineer is to provide expert hands-on technical expertise in all aspects of installation, commissioning, basic customer training, maintenance, fault-finding and customer support for Bruker, Varian, Agilent and JEOL spectrometers.

Duties

  • Working within a team primarily involved in the installation, commissioning, customer training, maintenance, fault-finding and technical support for Bruker, Varian, Agilent and JEOL spectrometers
  • Liaise with customers and colleagues in the site planning process prior to installation
  • Inspect, install, set up, test and achieve specifications of NMR systems and accessories at customers' sites, and deliver basic operator training
  • Able to set up and cool the superconducting magnet system, set up the spectrometer, anti-vibration legs, probe/s, RT shims etc.
  • Able to shim the magnet using the console on an FID and/or lock signal
  • Carry out breakdown and planned maintenance at customers' sites
  • Provide technical support and assistance to customers and to colleagues, either directly or by remote diagnosis
  • Carry out procedures necessary to validate systems
  • Provide technical input to the sales team
  • Frequent travel within the UK, Ireland and Europe will be expected

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an NMR systems installation engineer
  • Preferably with several years of Bruker NMR systems up to and including the AVANCE II and AVANCE III systems
  • A tertiary level qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, physics or a related discipline or be able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge and skill gained by practical experience in the Magnetic Resonance field.
  • A solid technical or scientific background gained in industry or academia
  • A current driving license valid in the UK

Skills and Experience

  • The capacity to take responsibility for the complete installation and commissioning of sophisticated instrumentation and to instruct users in its basic operation
  • Ability to diagnose causes of malfunction and to actively resolve customers' service problems
  • Good computer literacy with data system hardware and industry standard operating systems
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels with good spoken and written English.

You will receive a very competitive salary and company card. You must have Bruker Biospin knowledge to be effective within this role. The working hours are flexi with ore hours of 9-3 and ideally for the initial period of this role you will be based at head office for a few days per week. This is a full- time role with a company car and a salary of £45-£55 dependant on experience.
