We are currently seeking a Production Technician/Engineer to be based at the Manchester Production facility. The hours of work are 39 hours per week, between 07.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Thursday with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break and 07.30am until 1.30pm on a Friday without a lunch break. Salary is £25,000 - £30,000 based on experience, Please see below for more information;

Job Purpose:-

To provide effective management of all production engineering functions, providing focus and drive in the establishment and documentation of Lean production processes. Duties will include project management, New Product Introduction (NPI), process design and implementation, technical support to the Maintenance Department, maintaining data accuracy across ERP and off-line systems and document control to ensure cost efficient manufacturing and consistent quality. The role will also include the establishment of inter-departmental collaboration, internal and external co-ordination, planning and scheduling and project execution to deliver projects on time, to budget and within performance criteria.

Key Responsibilities:-

-Development of new, and improvement of existing, production processes

-Development, management and maintenance of tools, fixtures and other equipment required for production processes.

-Support Production, Quality, Health & Safety and Distribution on all matters relating to production and engineering processes, ensuring best practice relating to Health & Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.

-Provide technical manufacturing support throughout the project life-cycle from concept development through to manufacturing and delivery, into service by involvement with all supporting departments - design / engineering / purchasing / production / stores / logistics.

-Implementation and maintenance of efficient and effective production and engineering management systems, ensuring best practice and exceptional housekeeping standards are maintained.

-Lead in the identification of production problems and implement solutions. Eliminate waste

-Effective project management of technological changes, innovations and implementation of new processes and procedures.

-Compilation of investment calculations and proposals for investment.

-Submission of formal requests for investment.

-Management of engineering change and New Product Introduction (NPI) procedures.

-Provision of technical and project support to internal and sub-contract maintenance personnel.

-Management of data accuracy, both new and existing, across ERP and off-line systems.

-In conjunction with the Quality Department, conduct audits within areas of responsibility to ensure procedures for safety, quality, equipment, and training are being followed and all aspects of production engineering and project management are effective including correcting sub-standard practices.

-When necessary, provide effective cover within the office, during holidays, sickness or absence.

-Timely completion of all month end procedures relating to your position and responsibilities, ensuring that all necessary items are fulfilled.

-Lead in the development and deployment of Kaizen (good change) philosophy creating processes that lower operating costs and increase efficiency.

-Implement, monitor, and maintain clean, organised departments through 5S activity.

-Develop and operate the company's ERP system and off-line systems relating to Production and Engineering functions.

-Development and implementation of process measurement, KPIs and matrices

-Continually develop, implement world-class H&S procedures and ensure that processes are fully compliant with current H&S legislation.

-Uphold the company's Health & Safety policy throughout the organisation and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

-Learn, embrace, implement, and teach the One Lindab philosophy to all Lindab team members.

-Work in a professional manner and to respond to both production and customer needs.

-Develop and maintain positive team member relations centred on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.

-Show a continued commitment to develop product knowledge and attend training courses if required to do so.

-Any other such duties as maybe required to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the warehouse / business.

Limits of Authority:-

-Process design, procedure development and deployment.

-Project management and implementation of changes and improvements

-ERP and off-line data management relating to production and engineering functions

-Assist with improvement projects relating to Health & Safety, Quality, Purchasing and Logistics

Person Specification:-

A proven track record within a busy engineering department;

Strong project management skills, milestones, schedules and budgets;

Experience of working within an ISO9001 engineering environment;

Able to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines;

Qualified to HNC/HND in Engineering or related discipline

Experience of working in a Health & Safety focused environment;
