An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client, are currently seeking a Product Development Technologist for their Impulse Ice-Cream & Desert brands, based at the Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire â€" MK44- (Just a 40-minute drive from Milton Keynes)!

This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 6 months (maternity Cover), working a 37.5 hour week. This role is paying £27,000 per annum pro rata.

Background:

U/L Refreshment R&D is looking for exceptional people to join the Ice Cream and Plant Based Beverages R&D teams, based in Colworth, Bedfordshire. Our Refreshment business is made up of many well-known brands including Walls, Carte D’or, Lipton and Pukka, which compete within an exciting and highly competitive market.

In these roles, you will work on product development projects while learning from, and working closely with, other R&D beverage and ice cream experts to ensure best product design as well as legal, nutritional and food safety compliance.

You'll also work in close partnership across internal functions (Marketing; Supply Chain; Procurement) as well as key external partners and suppliers (e.g. Third-Party Manufacturers and ingredients suppliers).

Job Summary:

  • To plan, organise and execute a variety of project types as assigned under guidance from line manager, working closely with onsite R&D experts from a variety of fields.
  • Use your creative talents to develop great products.
  • Support or lead technical delivery of projects, covering diverse topics such as: product concepts; formulation design and specifications; lab and pilot plant prototypes; cost, quality assessments; Unilever Sustainable Living Plan; legislation compliance and claims.
  • Manage supplier relationships working closely with other functions such as Procurement.
  • Lead and manage pilot plant and factory trials for prototype/product development.
  • Write and manage specifications and systems data for the products you work on.
  • Work closely with key partners from other functions such as: Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance
  • Provide key updates for our Innovation Process Management and other relevant systems.

Key Skills &Experience & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and passion for creative product design and development.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Attention to detail especially in experimentation, data recording and analysis.
  • University degree/diploma or equivalent experience in food science or product development
  • Proven experience (>2 years) in the food industry. Ice cream or Beverages product formulation and product delivery would be an advantage
  • Fluent English
