Purpose Statement


The main purpose of the post is to provide administrative support to the Referencing project, which aims to change referencing instructions for students from OU Harvard to the Cite Them Right version of Harvard on all modules from October 2020.

The post sits within the Learning and Teaching team, which is a part of the Student and Academic Services area of Library Services. The team has responsibility for the delivery of Library services to staff and students.

Library Assistants are required to be flexible in their role, and to support other areas of Library Services depending upon the needs of the business.


Main responsibilities

Procedural

Accurately gather data and record details of where referencing guidance and support appears in online module materials.

Administration

Provide administrative support to the Student and Academic Services team, including accessibility, link-checking and operating the SCONUL Access service.

Use various systems and software to accurately create, record, file and report on data including:

· Where referencing guidance and support appears in university web pages

· Printing activity relating to the production of alternative formats

· Accessibility checking of online materials

· Customer record management, including SCONUL Access

· Persistent web links to Library resources

Frontline Support

Answering student and staff enquiries on library services and resources (triaging as appropriate) through webchat, email, telephone and in person. Recording and updating details of enquiries in a customer record management system (VOICE).
