Based in Stockport

  • Respond to telephone/e-mail requests from staff in a timely manner
  • Prepare and process quotations from approved suppliers
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to suppliers
  • Ensure that orders are delivered in line with requirements and agree service levels
  • Process order amendments including the down valuing of purchase orders
  • Maintain a clear audit trail of the order process
  • Liaise with Finance and operational teams as well as external suppliers
  • Provide support and cover for the rest of the purchasing team as and when required
  • Effectively resolve invoice queries with the Purchase Ledger team
  • Respond to telephone/email/online requests from employees in a timely manner
  • Ensure that orders are delivered in line with requirements and agreed service levels, and that a clear audit trail of the order process is maintained
  • The day-to-day management of the supplier registration and accreditation process. Ensuring all supplier insurances and other statutory certification are current and up to date
  • The process of registration of all new suppliers on to the supplier database and their ongoing maintenance
  • Managing the supplier complaints (NCR) and corrective action processes; maintaining the NCR register, following through corrective actions and reporting results

  • Strong IT knowledge - particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Good numerical skills are essential
  • Experience of high volume date input
  • Experience of working within a fast paced purchasing/procurement environment
  • Ability to work in an accurate and timely manner
  • Experience of JBA/AS400 is advantageous
  • Always identifies possible near misses and hazards in their work place
  • Responds to customers' day to day needs promptly and courteously
  • Keeps customers informed on progress and outcomes
  • Builds effective relationship with colleagues
