Excellent opportunity for an aspiring Transport Manager to develop their understanding and skill set within this role as Assistant Transport Manager working for a market leading company based in Portbury. The ideal candidate will come from a professional driving background and have a keen interest in transport & logistics who is now looking to develop their transport management, budgeting, health and safety delivery, recruitment and team management skills.

The Role:

• Work closely with the Transport Manager to ensure the successful running of site operations, perform the Transport Managers duties in their absence.
• Assist with the route planning and shift patterns for a fleet of 20 HGV's and 30 HGV Drivers.
• Assist in the delivery of health and safety training.
• Support the training of new starters and upskilling of current employees.
• Produce budget forecasts and review results against targets.
• Help maintain a roadworthy fleet of vehicles.
• React to any RTA's or vehicle break downs, liaise with external stakeholders and customers.

The Requirements:

• Experience within the Transport / Distribution industry.
• HGV Class 1 / 2 Licence + CPC (Preferred)
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
• IT Literate.
• Keen and willing to learn new concepts and systems and develop into a Transport Managers role.

• Bristol Based, Portbury
