Mechanical Design Engineer
A Mechanical Design Engineer position within a foremost global manufacturer of bespoke machinery has become available. We are looking for an creative, ambitious and experienced Engineer to join our Engineering Team and to be responsible for the full product development life cycle from initial concept through detailed design, manufacture, test and support of commissioning and installation. The ideal candidate will continuously develop our machines to improve performance, and reduce costs as well as leading customer projects to ensure total customer satisfaction.
The Responsibilities:
Direct design work on customer projects, particularly sheet metal, fabrications, machined components, stainless steel and engineering plasticsAttend specification meetings with customers, providing authoritative contribution regarding the mechanical design aspects of the project.Overall responsibility for all mechanical aspects of projects, providing technical guidance to internal and external customers as necessary;Communicate with other design engineers (mechanical and electrical) the design on projects to ensure that these are fully coordinatedContributing creative ideas - producing design schemes - producing detail drawingsProducing parts lists - preparing assembly drawings - commissioning - liaison with sales/production/customersCarry out risk assessments on machineryAttend project meetings and update the project managers on engineering progress.Lease with all departments to ensure the overall project is completed on time and budget.Provide assistance to Assembly personnel during the build phase of a project.Provide support to Sales and the Applications Manager regarding concept drawings, carton appraisals, design hours, parts costs and assembly hours.
The Requirements:
5+ years experienceMinimum of an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Degree, MSc is desirable3D modelling skills (preferably SolidWorks) and the ability to produce detailed 2D production drawings taking into account toleranceExperience in designing automated electro-mechanical equipmentAn understanding of the machinery directive and CE marking regulationsAbility to design for manufacture and assemblyAbility to perform engineering calculations and analysisExperience of value engineering practicesDesign of equipment for harsh environments and high reliabilityUnderstanding of Servo motion technology is desirable
