Manpower is currently recruiting for 2 Part time Telephone Fundraisers to work on exciting temporary assignments starting ASAP until 30th September 2019 for the Open University in Milton Keynes. This is a part time position, you will be required to work 2 evenings per week, 5-9pm and Saturday 11am-6pm.

The Open University are looking for someone to work in the Development office. The development office gains financial support from Open University graduates, trusts, foundations, companies and other individuals. They raise money for students who need financial help, support for disabled students and other university projects such as their extensive work in teacher training in Africa.

The ideal candidate will be confident in making outbound calls to support the above preferably have experience in a charity/fund-raising position and or sales experience of a similar level.

Duties

Callers will be required to:


  • Make calls to selected Open University Graduates to

    • Build relationships with them and make them feel important to the OU
    • Most importantly, ask them for a donation to support their work
    • Update their details with accuracy on a specialised computer system
    • Update them on current benefits, news and other activities

  • Keep accurate records of all calls made on a computer system
  • Create short â€~thank you’ notes for graduates contacted
  • Help with other tasks as necessary

  • Expectations

    • Always Commit to your shifts and act in a professional manor
    • Must be confident in asking for donations and negotiating, willing to gain an understanding of why the OU needs to fundraise and be able to explain this to potential donor

    Essential skills/experience:

    • Excellent communications skills in both spoken and written English
    • Excellent listening skills
    • Self motivated, with a keen interest in speaking to OU graduates
    • Â Confident and comfortable in asking OU graduates for financial support
    • Friendly disposition; able to build relationships with different people
    • Good attention to detail
    • A basic knowledge of computers and a willingness to be trained on an in-house system

    Desirable

    • An Open University graduate, student or staff member
    • Previous experience in either fundraising, outbound calling, telesales or sales
    • Excellent negotiation skills
    • Experience of using a script within a call centre environment
