Shift Manager

I have a great opportunity for an experienced Shift Manager to work on a permanent day shift basis for my Coventry based client. This client offers End-to-End bespoke solutions for Automotive and Off-Highway companies. Most processes are still in-house, from Design and Prototyping through to Manufacturing and Assembly.

Their customers are experiencing continued growth in their areas, which in turn means my client are looking to strengthen and grow their workforce. This role will play a key part in supporting this continued demand for their products.

The successful Shift Manager will:

• Take control of and responsibility for their area of production, with 2 rotating shift leaders reporting into them, and a further 20 or so CNC Setter/Operators.
• Ensure effective and efficient output across Low-Volume and High-Volume cells, with regular repeating orders and ad-hoc orders being managed to client satisfaction.
• In terms of leadership, give clear direction and guidance, ensuring an environment where knowledge is shared to cross-skill and upskill the wider team.
• In terms of management, take responsibility for the HR side of the equation, such as annual leave, attendance, absence, disciplinaries etc.

The successful Shift Manager will have the following skills and experience:

• Experience of working within precision engineering environments (Aerospace or Motorsport for instance)
• Experience with Star Sliding-Head Lathes, Doosan Puma, Mazak, mostly with Fanuc control, and milling machines predominantly Mazak and Mitsubishi.
• A sound demonstrable knowledge of engineering machine tools and processes.
• Agility, this is not an off the rack environment, and customer needs and pressures will vary from order to order.
• A passion for, and experience of driving, Continual Improvement via lean techniques and methodologies such as 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
