Main purpose of the post

The Compliance Lead / Manager will be responsible for:

  • Owning the planning, delivery and management of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for all functional areas (that is: HR, Finance and Student Life Cycle) by:
  • Following and explaining the agreed approach and standard procedures with key stakeholders
  • Gathering necessary input for the DPIAs from various sources: for example: Subject Matter
  • Experts (SME), Lead Product Owners (LPO) and Solution Architects o Co-ordinating with Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Information Rights Team (IRT) for guidance and review of DPIAs until sign-off
  • Evaluating any process changes and incorporating these changes into the assessments o Imparting necessary rationale, and share privacy knowledge and guidance on compliance to all the stakeholders. This may include training/awarenes
  • Ensuring that information retention obligations under GDPR are met and that DPIAs are version-controlled and stored securely for future audit and reference
  • Providing regular updates to the Programmes Review Committee and the Universitys Data and Information Governance Group as required on the progress, delivery and management of compliance deliverable programmes.
  • Experience of engaging with stakeholders both in IT and the business
  • Knowledge of business process management
  • Evidence of an understanding of new technologies and their support issues
  • Established interpersonal skills, initiative, communication, negotiating, influencing and team working
  • Demonstrable experience of managing own workload, against a backdrop of external deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral skills

Desirable

  • Project Management Certification (e.g. PRINCE2 / APM / PMI /Agile / Waterfall)
  • Experience of IT project management or change management roles
  • Formal risk management certification (e.g. CRISC)

EXCEPTIONAL OR DEPUTISATION DUTIES

  • Other duties as may be required by the line manager or Head of Service Transition, from time to time or as the nature of the role evolves commensurate with the job grade.

37 Hours Per Week Full Time (As per academic related contract, usually 37 hours per week)

Contract 3 months in first instance with possibility of extension
