Estimating Manager required in the reading area for a large reputable utility company.

Position: Estimating Manager

Salary: £43,000 - £65,500 per annum 10% Bonus plus £3588 car/cash allowance

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Reading

Our Role

As Estimating Manager you'll be responsible for delivering an estimating service across a number of the Contracting regions supporting the delivery, sales and major project functions with new and existing customer opportunities. You will lead and manage a multi-disciplined team of electrical, lighting and mechanical estimators based across the region. In addition you'll interact on a daily basis with Delivery Managers and Business Development Managers to prioritise workload, review tenders and attend adjudications.

Your Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates should ideally be qualified with an Undergraduate degree (minimum 2.1), preferably within a technical area of study. You'll have a significant track record of operating successfully within a large corporation, preferably involved in the Mechanical & Electrical Contracting industry although Energy Services, Utilities and/or Facilities Management industries are also of interest.

You'll possess an excellent knowledge of industry best practise required to create high quality tender responses for large, sophisticated customers with multi-service requirements and have a sound knowledge of the M&E Contracting / Building Services market. Along with electrical/mechanical/site specific knowledge, you should possess significant commercial acumen as well as knowledge of key Projects and customer/client base and an awareness of company Contracting activities and objectives.

As an individual you will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills to drive the work of collaborative virtual teams in planning, designing and delivering solicited proposals and tender responses. You'll have strong interpersonal and persuasion skills with an ability to quickly build gravitas with senior colleagues across delivery verticals in order to meet challenging bid goals. A good understanding of technical requirements to complete works as well as an ability to "take off" quantities from drawings or bill of quantities is highly desirable. In line with our company policies you will have a sound understanding of the importance of client and data confidentiality and have a keen eye for detail when assessing the levels of risk on a project. In addition you should be a confident use of software packages to aid in the creation and maintenance of complex documentation.

Due to the potential requirement to drive between sites on occasion, a valid UK driver's license would be essential for this role.
