An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our client Leading Global FMCG company with Brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum are currently looking for a Commissioning Support Engineer based at their prestigious facility in Seacroft, Leeds. This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 12 Months, working a 37.5 hour week. This role is paying up to £35,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience. Please note, there is potential for flexible working.

Please note; Occasional flexible working (to enable the training of site shift personnel) and travel (i.e. to equipment suppliers) is required.

Background/General Purpose of Position:

Working within a small team to support Project Leaders and Engineers producing appropriate technical documentation relating to new or upgrading of machinery/equipment onsite and the design review, functional testing, sign-off and trial/commissioning of equipment. The primary focus will be acceptance testing, commissioning and delivery of training for plant and equipment installed as technical projects carried out under the Sourcing Unit capital plan, achieved by gathering, compiling and creation of necessary documentation required for the safe training, operation and maintenance of new plant and machinery.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage project files in conjunction with engineers.
  • Create SMP/SOP, maintenance documentation, safety, technical files for handover.
  • Management and recording of project changes prior to snaglist (MP database).
  • Prepare and carry out PDIT's and FAT's.
  • Development and delivery of technical training for new plant and equipment.
  • Produce packages for operator training on new equipment including training files, training plans in accordance with company training standards.
  • Prepare, attend and report pre-delivery inspection tests for new equipment.
  • Support ramp-up/first productions on new equipment and products.
  • Monitor losses and generate and support any machine improvement activities on newly installed equipment and products, using WCM (CI) tools and techniques.
  • Support the handover of equipment to operations customer.
  • Ensure that installed equipment is in line with 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in Early Equipment Management activities in the design of new equipment including machine acceptance trials, MP workshops and risk assessments.
  • Ensure technical documentation conforms to legal and mandatory company requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with technical change and engineering change procedures

Support Roles:

  • Technical support/expertise for new equipment during the commissioning and ramp up of the technical projects.
  • Problem solving, development and implementation of engineering solutions during commissioning and ramp up.
  • Participate as required in safety & environmental assessment procedures e.g. PHA, HAZOP.
  • Understand and apply site SHE policies & rules including Process Safety.
  • Liaise with quality department to ensure that quality testing and quality gates are defined and documented for new processes and equipment.

Key Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Engineering or technical background - NVQ equivalent in a relevant Engineering/Manufacturing discipline or degree.
  • Experience in compiling technical documentation from equipment suppliers' documents advantageous.
  • Experience in maintenance of equipment and/or reviewing tasks, creation of worksheets.
  • Good IT skills essential - Good knowledge and use of Microsoft Office
  • Able to track, create and manage technical documentation / files.
  • Familiarisation with following set procedures and/or creation of them.
