An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation. Our client, a blue-chip IT company, is currently seeking an Infrastructure Support Specialist III (Wintel Engineer) based on their customer site at Luton. This is a full-time, temporary role to start ASAP, running until 31st December 2019 (with possible extension), Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, 37.5 hours per week, to start ASAP. The role is paying £24.12 per hour (Ltd Contractor/Umbrella).

This is a customer facing role and it is essential that a good relationship with the client is achieved. The role requires excellent software, hardware and customer skills.


  • Work with team on site to support a range of IT activities to allow others to work on a project
  • Adhere to customer, HSSE and security policies
  • BAU work (reporting, server patching etc), some Wintel/desktop/printer 3rd line calls
  • mainly small project work - building and supporting servers and infrastructure on site

Essential skills/qualifications;

  • You MUST have clearance already to be considered for this role



General Scripting Knowledge in VBScript, Powershell

Basic Understanding of Bash, Java Scripting


Administering, Installing CAs & Certificate Templates based on Windows Certificate Authorities

AD Management:

Groups, Permissions, OUs Administration

Group Policy Authoring

Domain Controller Builds/Support

Local VM Farm Support

Administering & Deploying the vCenter hosted VMs

Deploying and Configuring New vCenters and ESX hosts

P2V Migrations

Private Cloud support

Administering the BizCloud servers via vCloud Director

Administering the vCD Resource Allocations

P2Cloud Migrations

V2Cloud Migrations


Cisco Switch Administration

Networking Investigation

Understanding of Firewalls - Preferably understanding of Palo Alto Zones for troubleshooting

Server Deployment

Deploying Physical Servers

Deploying Cloud/Virtual Servers

Application Installation & Configuration

NGD Technologies

Avecto Privilege Management - Administration & Troubleshooting

Server Management

WSUS Technology

Basic Skype for Business Administration including Forefront Identity Manager

  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Wintel
  • A good working knowledge of Wintel Operating Systems and infrastructure tools and software
  • A good working knowledge of VMWare ESXI 6 and 6.5
  • A good technical knowledge of AD Design/Management, PC's/peripherals and their architecture
  • Some experience of Cisco network configuration, firewalls and network troubleshooting
  • Good customer facing skills, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills, able to take a methodical approach to service issues
  • Able to work both on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet SLA's and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Windows 10 experience essential

Desirable skills/qualifications

  • Software technical qualifications, i.e. MCP, MCSE
  • Manufacturer accreditations
  • Basic scripting
  • Knowledge of Service Now.
