I am seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to join an Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, build and testing of the equipment they sell to their customers, using your experience in the field of automation you will help specify many of the principle automation components, and providing hands-on support for the integration and commissioning of the hardware. You will be skilled in the art of PLC programming on multiple platforms (incl. Siemens, Mitsubishi) and familiar with integration with factory automation systems.

What your job will look like:

  • Design specification for principle automation components including:
    • Conveyor systems o Robot loaders
    • Motion control systems (servo-, stepper-) o PLC o Safety Systems
    • Pumps o LEV systems
    • HVAC
  • Develop equipment supplier relationships.
  • Design and implementation of PLC code.
  • Design and implementation of Safety PLC code.
  • Create documented instructions and procedures for component integration, configuration, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Support for customers and field service engineers.
  • Work in accordance with company quality standards, procedures and processes.
  • Comply and work within all current H&S rules and guidelines.

What you need to be successful for the role:

  • A proven track record of successfully deploying automation systems within manufacturing industries
  • Detailed understanding of control system hardware, networks, fieldbus and industrial drives.
  • Ability to take customer requirements and produce detailed design documentation
  • Ability to design and develop PLC code using Siemens S7 software
  • Knowledge of functional safety programming
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • The ability to influence engineering design
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in mechanical, electrical or software engineering Certification in Machine Safety (e.g. City & Guilds)
