Student Vlogger- Open to BCU Students Only!! (Other applicants will not be considered!)
We are looking for current Birmingham City University students to join our team of vloggers - producing a wide range of video content for the university's YouTube and social media channels, as well as for our website and advertising campaigns. We'd like you to start ASAP on this ongoing project. You'll be producing at least one vlog per month for YouTube and there will be opportunities to be part of both a regular rota and carry out ad-hoc requests to cover what's happening on campus for Instagram Stories and Snapchat. You'll be working on average around five hours per week. The videos may take the format of diary entries in your bedroom/home, or tours around the campus and city. They are designed to provide an honest, peer-to-peer guide of what it's like to be a student at the University, and share advice from personal experience on any key worries or issues faced by prospective or current students. You'll also have the opportunity to attend events and popular venues around the city to share what student life at BCU is like to prospective students.
Key Skills
*Must be confident in front of a camera. *Must have a strong and entertaining personality. *Must be able to speak in an informal, friendly style, whilst being aware of maintaining the university's reputation and providing useful information. *Be aware of information needed by prospective students about choosing a university and the things they may be worried about. *May have an interest in social media, vlogging, pursuing a TV presenting career, or getting work experience in a social media/digital marketing environment. *Must be willing to share your own personal anecdotes about issues they have come across, currently experiencing or overcome during their time at the University. *Able to suggest ideas for future content. This project would provide a valuable work experience opportunity if you're studying any of the following courses: Media and Communication / Acting / Marketing / Digital Marketing / Digital or Film Technology, or if you're interested in social media or blogging regardless of your course. You would gain exposure to the University's online audience - which currently includes over 100,000 Facebook followers, almost 8,000 YouTube subscribers and 261,000 monthly website visitors. We're hoping to grow this audience further with this project.
Selection
Please submit a one-minute video, which can be filmed on a smartphone, where you talk about any chosen aspect of university life. If you need inspiration, a suggested topic would be 'how to decide which university is right for me'. Once you have applied for the position we will send you a further email detailing where to submit your video to. Candidates will undergo short informal interview if your video is selected. Training and equipment will be provided to the successful applicants.
Company
