A Brilliant opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client based in London Southwark. This role is a full-time temporary role until March 2020 working 40 hours a week. This role is paying £60 per hour Ltd/Umbrella company, the client ideally needs someone to start immediately.

Our client is a UK leading system integrator and a direct channel to market for solutions and services based on industry leading building automation products and software. We address customer's needs for integrated solutions across Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), Fire and Security. Working closely with their partners we serve the needs of customers for whom the building is critical to business as in Airports, Hospitals, Industrial Plants, Educational Institutes, Data Centres, Stadiums and High-End Commercial Buildings. Their customers want to work directly with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) due to the complexity and risk profile of their projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible along with project manager/project director for financial performance on assigned projects and address commercial requirements of the contract
  • Manage flow of information to ensure compliance with program and contract commitments
  • Prepare all contractual correspondence like applications, early warning notices, delay notices, notices for compensation events etc.
  • Liaise with client commercial teams to discuss progress, applications, variations, claims, final accounts as applicable
  • Achieve close control of all costs, optimize project's working capital performance costs and organize timely collection of cash
  • Conduct project reviews with project manager and highlight risks and opportunities early
  • Manage sub-contractor costs and payment certification, working with purchasing to optimize supplier performance and sub-contractor costs
  • Resolve disputes
  • Participate in developing commercial strategy for pursuing new projects including preparation of project cost budgets
  • Guide and mentor assigned junior QS or commercial assistants
  • Stay abreast of professional developments in the field of quantity surveying

Skills and Experience

  • Must be fully qualified QS with MRIC
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in UK construction commercial
  • Degree or diploma qualification desired in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Economics or Building Services
  • Experience of Construction and within its MEP Discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in Project Management and Quantity Surveying
  • Good understanding of NEC3 Option A and E in particular
  • Demonstrated experience in working with NEC contracts
  • Membership of a Quantity Surveying body is an advantage
  • Fluency in MS Office and Excel
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Strong commercial and project management acumen
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Keen attention to details
  • Ability to deal and interact with multiple stakeholders
