The Engineer will report directly to the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager on site. They will be accountable for the completion of work as set by the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager, including ensuring that the work is completed in a quality and timely manner. They will provide support in relation to all maintenance tasks and projects being undertaken, including day to day breakdown, PPM, equipment updates, new installations, and building/infrastructure upgrades. The position requires flexibility on hours as the pattern being plant specific and on-call work to provide cover for emergency breakdowns and shutdown periods.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across management and other staff
  • Flexible and able to react quickly to the needs of the business
  • Problem solving/analytical ability
  • Must possess a recognised qualification relevant to the role (e.g. mechanical / electrical C&G)
  • Skilled in both Electrical and Mechanical trades: Apprenticeship with indentures preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Excellent communication between Production staff and co-workers.
  • Undertake planned maintenance tasks as instructed to the relevant engineering and safety standards.
  • Undertake remedial engineering works to equipment or site as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
  • To ensure any risks of safety or failure of equipment or site are communicated to the Manager.
  • All activities are carried out in accordance with the Site Health and Safety instructions and the SSG Health and Safety manual, as well as in accordance with relevant engineering standards.

Skills and Education:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Electrical 17th Edition
  • Electrical Installation Maintenance
  • Mechanical Fabrication / Maintenance
  • Electronic fault finding to a competent level
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of management and staff and work as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to make decisions and solve problems
  • Flexible and able to react quickly to the needs of the business
  • Self Motivated
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours, when needed.
  • Must possess a recognised qualification relevant to the role (e.g. mechanical or electrical C&G)
  • Preferred knowledge of other engineering disciplines including pneumatics, hydraulics, steam systems.
