Principal Mechanical Engineer - Nottingham

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, an exciting and important time in its development and we are looking for people with the enthusiasm to help build a safe and sustainable business for the future. Our client builds and operates district heating schemes to efficiently generate electricity and provide heat directly to commercial and residential customers.

This is a permanent position and the salary is negotiable depending on experience.

About the role:

As a Principle Mechanical Engineer, you will take the lead on the technical and engineering development of district heating projects, ensuring the delivery of design against budgets. From initial consultation through to commissioning and operation, you will look to be involved throughout the full project life-cycle.

Specific activities will include developing concepts and engineering detailed designs as well as providing technical support during construction and operation. You'll coordinate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the design of safe, efficient and functional district heating systems.

Though this role is based within Nottingham, there is expected to be some travelling involved for roughly 25%-50% of the time.

About you:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK mechanical regulations and standards.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, AutoCAD, Revit and BIM.
  • Working knowledge of Energy Centre functionality, operation and design.
  • Knowledge of District Heating (DH) network design and operations.

Desirables:

  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Experience of working with pressure system standards and control (PED).
  • Experience of Construction Design and Management Regulations, auditing, and Design Risk assessment.
  • Demonstrable experience in engineering project management and budgetary responsibility.
  • Understanding of SAP calculation and regulation.
  • Full valid UK/EU driving licence.
