Software/Firmware Engineer

Manpower are pleased to be recruiting for a Software/Firmware Engineer on behalf of our busy client based in Church Stretton. This is a temporary to permanent position starting immediately!

This position is open for recent graduates with no previous professional experience as well as experienced firmware engineers.

Location: Church Stretton, Shropshire

Working hours: 37.5 per week. My client offers a flexi working environment and have start and finish times to suit you!

Hourly Rate: Based on experience

About the role:

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Software/Firmware Engineer to join our clients dynamic R&D team in the development of control and acquisition to support their scientific instrumentation.

Working as the Software/Firmware Engineer you will join the Company's Development Team, where you will have a great opportunity to work on high-level, innovative and state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation.

You will be a crucial member of the Research & Development Team pioneering products from concept to completion.

You will have the opportunity to participate in the complete software product development lifecycle (design, development and verification).

Requirements:

Any of the following backgrounds will be considered:

• HND or BSc level qualification in Software Engineering or equivalent Computer Science related discipline
• This position is open for recent graduates with no previous professional experience as well as experienced firmware engineers.

Key responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities as the Software/Firmware Engineer will include the following:

• The design, development of firmware for the control of our clients instrumentation.
• Translating customer needs into software/firmware design requirements
• Real-time embedded software development for microcontrollers
• Tablet and mobile app development

Essential skills:

• Embedded Firmware Engineering
• Windows PC Environment
• C, C++ knowledge

Desirable skills:

• Linux Environment
• C#, .Net
• Python
• ARM
• PIC
• git
• Experience with lab tools: Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers and protocol analyzers

Familiarity and experience with modern agile software development methodologies and practices is preferred.
