Plant Maintenance Technician
Temp to Perm
42.5 hours per week
Lee Mill, near Ivybridge
Salary - £22,000 to £25,000 per annum, dependent on experience
We are looking to recruit a temp to perm Plant Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance Team working at Lee Mill, near Ivybridge.
The successful candidate will be working on preventative maintenance, installations, modifications and machinery breakdowns, reporting directly to the Assistant Plant Manager.
A thorough working knowledge of mechanical systems is essential, along with a range of maintenance, servicing and fault-finding skills around conveyor systems, pneumatics, compressors and pumps.
Your expertise in these areas means that you'll already have a good understanding of Health & Safety regulations. Knowledge of safe systems of work, (lock off, tag out) and working under permit is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out routine maintenance / inspections as per schedules
- Identifying additional requirements for preventive maintenance.
- Diagnosing breakdowns / unplanned maintenance and repairing equipment in order to avoid or minimise production downtime.
- Assisting with the Installation & commissioning of mechanical equipment in line with manufacturer and company specifications.
- Carrying out controlled modifications to plant equipment within company specifications, striving constantly for better production performance and reliability.
As such we would like you to:
- Have achieved a City & Guilds or BTEC qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Ideally hold GCSE's Grades C and above in Maths, Science and English or equivalent.
- Experience of working within a production maintenance environment would be desirable.
- Have general fabrication skills including welding & cutting - advantage.
- Be able to diagnose mechanical problems and repair as necessary.
- Be comfortable working to your own initiative, as well as within a team.
- Have a flexible approach to working hours.
- Have a knowledge of gas, steam and pneumatic systems.
