Excellent opportunity or a Production Scheduling Specialist to join a global specialist manufacturer based at their flagship site in the Skelmersdale/Wigan area. As the Production Scheduling Specialist, you will have direct responsibility for the detailed planning and scheduling of production runs that are required to ensure Manufacturing Schedule Adherence (MSA). This detailed planning and scheduling will be used to generate production required documentation necessary to fully comply with customer requirements within an ERP environment.

Your Key areas of focus will be detailed planning which encompasses capability, capacity, resource management, and inventory monitoring. This responsibility shall apply for all product families within your assigned manufacturing facilities and for other manufacturing facilities as required by the Production Scheduling Manager.

Education:

  • Degree level in a business, engineering or an equivalent discipline preferred
  • Certification in APICS preferred

Experience:

  • Experience in production planning, inventory control management, and/or supply chain
  • Strong forecasting and constraint-based planning.
  • Minimum basic understanding of operations finance principles & impact on scheduling
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership, and successful process improvement background
  • Capacity to manage multiple changing priorities within a fast pace work environment
  • Strategic thinking and execution of tactical & persistent attention to detail, and a high level of comfort in working with numbers
  • ERP/MRP class experience required

What will your new role look like?

  • You will be office-based the majority of time however, national & international travel for short duration's which may involve periods away from home
  • There will be a close relationship within the industrial manufacturing Teams within their environment at times too.
  • Possible Occasional out-of-hours working to accommodate time zone variations based on the other sites across the world.

What will you be responsible for:

  • Generation of successful detailed planning, scheduling, monitoring and reports of status & production runs within the product families at your assigned manufacturing facilities on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ensuring accuracy and approved information/data is used to create all required production documentation as well as any revisions to documentation required are available and timely
  • Understanding of process constraints and capacity limitations and implement resourceful solutions in effective and efficient production scheduling to overcome constraints wherever possible
  • Provision of routine tracking, recording & reporting of progress on agreed KPI's as well as critical information reporting in to the Production Scheduling Manager
  • Ensuring adherence to all company policies and prevailing business regulations
  • You will deliver detailed planning & scheduling for production runs within an MRP/ERP environment
  • Generating, reviewing and releasing production routing documentation and assuring adherence to schedule requirements within manufacturing.
  • Your support of other functions will be of paramount importance & the development of the Master Schedule that considers demand and capacity issues and translating this into the detailed production plan
  • Maintenance of business-critical production data and ensuring it is updated to reflect latest information
  • Collaborating with the Production Scheduling Team to develop and implement industry recognised planning and scheduling techniques and best methods
  • Generating and releasing actual versus scheduled production metrics to ensure high visibility of manufacturing schedule adherence performance
  • Assuring the credibility of the information contained in the detailed production schedule and planning documents
  • Ensuring compliance with company business processes
  • Take an active role in the local operation's progress meetings
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties that may be requested from time to time.
