An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Client, a leading global FMCG company with brands such as Dove, Knorr, Ben & Jerrys & Magnum and are currently seeking a Part-Time Laboratory Technician for a 12-month temporary role, Part-Time, working a 20-hour week (4 Hours per day).

This role is paying £10,827 per annum. The role will be based at our clients prestigious Research centre at Colworth Science Park in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire (MK44), just 40 minutes drive from Milton Keynes.

Job Purpose

Lipton is our clients largest brand in turnover and global presence and is a key component in PepsiCo's beverage portfolio. Lipton is a truly global brand and operates in two distinct areas; leaf tea and Ready to Drink Tea (RTDT). The RTDT team operates as a separate entity to Unilever and PepsiCo as part of a joint venture organization.

A role in Pepsi Lipton is unique experience that will allow you to rapidly develop and will add value to your career. It is a joint venture between Unilever and PepsiCo to manufacture and sell Lipton Iced Tea and operates across the globe. As a company in its own right, the joint venture has its own board of directors. Whilst in constant contact with its parent companies, it runs as a separate entity on a day to day basis.

As a global company the variation in countries, bottlers and manufacturing sites makes this a very exciting place to work. We have 5 regional organisations operating across across North America; Europe; Latin America; South Asia, Middle East and Africa (SAMEA) and Greater China/ Asia Pacific and we are constantly breaking new ground with launches into white markets.

This vacancy is for a Research and Development Laboratory assistant

Key Accountabilities

Overall guardian of the R&D laboratory, ensuring its smooth day to day running.

  • Maintenance of lab equipment & daily calibration
  • Creation of lab training matrix & training of new starters on lab equipment & procedures
  • Manage analytical proficiency testing for bottlers
  • Ordering of Raw materials & disposables for the lab including maintenance of the flavour library
  • Support R&D team with activities such as, Volumetric analysis, Sending parcels, Reference samples for new kits & 1st production samples for new launches
  • H&S of lab (COSH assessments etc)
  • Update of user manuals such as SOPs for volumetrics etc

Essential Criteria Professional/Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Candidates should have laboratory experience
  • Ideally have formal technical training and higher level (beyond school) qualifications.
  • Foundation training/qualification in food hygiene and Good lab practice

Good IT Skills for data presentation, analysis and storage

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Data collection
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Time management and priority setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Training experience
